back to school

School is back in session! I feel like when we were kids, school didn’t start until after Labor Day. You got June, July, and all of August and THEN had to go back… now it’s like half of June, July, half of August and that’s it. Our poor kids. Anyway. Isabelle is in Kindergarten this year after completing a year of transitional kindergarten last year. She is so much more prepared this year- I planned on taking her myself (Jazz usually takes her to school on his way to work and then I don’t have to put pants on, see.) but she didn’t even need me! She wanted dad to take her and so he did. Walked her into the classroom and she didn’t even look back. We were so lucky to get the teacher we requested, it’s going to be a great year for her.

It’s actually really nice to be back in a schedule. Summer is sort of free for all and I feel like I get nothing done. Routine is good for me. Isabelle is in school full time, Lincoln starts pre-school next week (!! what !!). I’m finally cooking meals semi-regularly again and keeping up on the laundry. Projects are going, and I’m itching to purge the house of clutter. (Have you read the life-changing magic of tidying up?)

I always get excited in August for the fall, but fall doesn’t realllllly start here until November, it’s just too hot. Now it’s September- 106 is in the forecast, just perfect for boots and sweaters.

One of the best parts of my day is picking up Isabelle from school. There is no parking and it’s hot- so that sucks- but she is so excited to tell me stuff. Linc always runs ahead and carries her water bottle for her. She tells him about her day and he tells her about his. And my heart could burst I love them so much.
