Remember back in September we were supposed to go to Disneyland but it was closed so we scheduled Yosemite but then it was on fire and we plan B’ed it to the coast?
We finally made it to Yosemite! We rented this big cabin for all of us to stay in about 40 minutes from Yosemite Valley. It was pretty hilarious watching us all unload the car- we are all Michael Sumsion clones and hauled so many cases of diet soda, all the same snacks we all like, ice machines, the works. We don’t travel light. We had a gorgeous view and stayed up late playing card games, took turns cooking meals, and went hiking during the day.
Couple things to remember. Learning how to play Swipe and teaching the big kids. Sabrina bringing alllll the crafts and keeping kids busy at all hours. The boys bunk room which was like 8 twin beds and smelled like garbage all the time, boys are stinky. The cute scandanavian cabin and memory books they had lying around with photos and family notes.
When we hiked up to Mirror Lake, Jared got a terrible bloody nose and no one had anything helpful. Isabelle busted out her fanny pack with actual cotton balls and supplies and I WAS SO PROUD! So prepared. Love her.
We really wanted to go to the Mariposa Grove of trees– it was closed for trail refurbishment when we went a few years ago. This trip, it was closed due to fire damage. Dang it. There was another small grove mentioned in the tour book so we made it a point to see those trees. Well, a really difficult trail that ended up not being stroller friendly, was steep and way longer than we thought…. and there were like three big trees at the end. Lol. We are spoiled with our coast trips expecting walls of tall trees everywhere and this was not quite the same.
Anyway, it was beautiful, we had a great time together, and we always wish we had just one more day before heading back home. It is one of my most favorite places on earth.
Mirror Lake wore them right out
