Last weekend we celebrated Lincoln turning 8️⃣!! Dodgeball, trampolines, pizza, donuts, and some of the nicest friends any kid could ask for- just the best pals. (Also maybe the most I’ve enjoyed a party- I did basically nothing and it was 100% worth it! 😂)

For the entire month of May and part of June 2014, people brought us meals 2-3 times a week. Someone at church had passed around a clipboard with my name on it, and row after row it was filled with people who wanted to help. They would come into my house, set their hot dishes on my counter, give me a quick hug and leave. Sometimes I would hide in my bed, just too sad and low to come out and be social. I was too broken, too tired, too sore to grocery shop and cook for my family- so they did it for me. This afternoon I made a meal for another family at church. I thought of Max and his little life and the impact he has had on me. I’m not really the first to volunteer for service FOR SURE but his life taught me to write my name on the clipboard. I will never forget those people who did that for me. My heart feels heavy and even coming up on six years sometimes I still want to hide in my bed. I love my kids so hard and it hurts to love him equally as hard and know him so much less.

Just a little ode to Lincoln. This kid is just hilarious. Swag, style, super mouthy. Into Pokémon and football. Talks constantly. Dislikes clothes. Refuses long pants. Loves to play games. Loves jokes about butts. If there is a flaw in the system or a tiny loophole, he will find it. Just can’t imagine our family without this loud ray of neon sunshine. (That third swipe, I pulled over to get gas after school pickup and turned around and found he had disrobed 😂.)

I have put my babies to bed in this crib hundreds of nights...and now after a decade of use, it’s gone. Feels like such a blink. I remember Jazz putting it together in our basement apartment in Sandy. We had NO idea what was coming, we were still babies ourselves! Trying to do my best Marie Kondo and thank the crib for ten years of use, and say gbye. 😭❤️ (also team paci for life. I care zero.)
